Ahh, Valentine’s Day. The holiday we all seem to have a love-hate relationship with. Or is that just me? I used to dread the red and white holiday, but I’ve grown to understand that Valentine’s Day is about celebrating all of the people in your life that you love, and what’s more exciting than that?

One way that I show love is by creating spaces for people that they enjoy. I’m not sure my daughter can really understand that aspect of my personality yet, but until she figures it out, I’m going to keep decorating her room for the holidays!

Decorating a child’s room for Valentine’s Day can be an easy way to get them involved in the candy-filled holiday, while also creating a cute and cozy atmosphere.

If you’re on a budget, don’t worry! You can easily create a festive look using items from Dollar Tree, holiday books, and DIY crafts. Here are some ideas to get you started. (PS – check out my husband’s freakishly adorable Care Bear from the 80s in the picture above! Talk about budget-friendly! Although maybe it’s worth a fortune these days!)

Shop at Budget-Friendly Decorations

Dollar Tree is one of my favorite places to find affordable holiday decorations. They have balloons, garlands, signs, and more. Dollar Tree is also a great place to get basket stuffers if you are interested in creating one of those! I also love to get my tablecloths here, although I didn’t use any of those this year. I did, however, use them for our Super Bowl Party and I used other Dollar Tree items for our DIY Valentine’s Day photo shoot!

I was so impressed with the Valentine’s Day selection at @Dollar Tree this year! I can’t wait to decorate my toddler’s room and make a DIY wreath. Display Valentine’s Day Books

When it comes to collecting holiday books, the best place to do this is the thrift store! Thrifting for books is one of my absolute FAVORITE things to do. Often you can find extremely cheap holiday books that look brand new. Reading holiday-themed books is also a great way to get your child excited for Valentine’s Day.

Use DIY Valentine’s Day Crafts as Decorations

One very inexpensive way to decorate for Valentine’s Day is by using crafts that you make with your child. I kept it very simple this year by making one simple craft using my daughter’s handprint.

Thrift for Cute Valentine’s Day Items

I found the cutest LOVE pillow at a local thrift store. It was brand new with tags! I also found two little heart picture frames that I ended up putting pictures of my daughter and my dog in. They were only $1.00 each! I spent less than $5.00 on all of these items. Score!

$2.00 thrift find and a lifetime of cuteness! These Valentine’s Day frames were easy peasy and I think they turned out pretty cute! #valentinesday #valentinesdaydecor #thrifted #thrifteddecor

Do What Makes You Happy!

I think it’s important to remember that not everyone likes to decorate for the holidays, and that’s completely fine! Your child knows how much you love them with or without decorations, but for some of us, it’s really fun to put a little extra holiday cheer in our spaces.
